James graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art (Painting) from Camberwell School of Art in 1988.
From an early age he had an interest in typography and letterforms and freelanced as a graphic designer in London design agencies. He subsequently became a web developer at one of the UK's first web design agencies.
He set up in James Atkins Design in 1997 and is currently based in ARIEGE, SOUTHWEST FRANCE AND THE EAST MIDLANDS IN THE UK.
In the last few years he has returned to painting. His current interest is in those areas that sit at the boundaries of traditional art and digital.
